Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide consisting of the immunomodulatory tetrapeptide tuftsin (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg) extended with the tripeptide Pro-Gly-Pro, which markedly increases stability against enzymatic degradation.

In rodent models Selank has been reported to modulate GABAergic and serotonergic signaling and to influence expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor. It has also been described as altering the balance of enkephalin-degrading enzyme activity, which prolongs endogenous enkephalin signaling.
