How to Reconstitute Peptides: Step-by-Step Lab Method

The formula

Concentration (mg/mL) = vial amount (mg) ÷ diluent volume (mL). Volume to draw (mL) = target amount (mg) ÷ concentration. On a U-100 syringe, multiply mL by 100 to get units. The peptide calculator does this automatically.

Step-by-step

  1. Let the vial reach room temperature. 2. Swab both stoppers with alcohol. 3. Draw the chosen volume of bacteriostatic water. 4. Angle the needle so the stream runs down the inside wall — never onto the cake. 5. Let it dissolve; swirl gently. 6. Label the vial with concentration and date. 7. Refrigerate at 2–8 °C.

Five mistakes

Injecting diluent directly onto the lyophilized cake; shaking instead of swirling; using tap or non-sterile water; re-entering the vial with a used needle; forgetting to label the reconstitution date and losing track of the 28-day window.
