How to Tell If a Peptide Has Degraded
Visual checks
A lyophilized cake that has collapsed to an oily film, discoloration, or a vial with visible moisture suggests a compromised seal. Reconstituted solutions should be clear — cloudiness or visible particulates indicate aggregation or contamination.
Physical checks
A shifted stopper, a broken flip-top seal, or a vial that was frozen and thawed repeatedly are all disqualifying for analytical work.
Analytical confirmation
Only HPLC settles it. A degraded lot shows a reduced main peak with new impurity peaks relative to the release chromatogram on the COA.
